Monday Message from Jerry Houston, President and CEO of HPISolutions
This saying, made by President John F. Kennedy’s father, rings true when you think of courage. When things are going along smoothly, it’s very easy to lead. By comparison, when things are not going so well, it is quite another matter. And that is when having the courage to do the right thing becomes so important.
Courage is defined as the attitude of facing and dealing with anything recognized as dangerous, painful or difficult. For the courageous leader, withdrawing from the situation or challenge is not an option. Courage takes fearlessness, having valor or bravery.
Remember, in order to have courage you must:
- Choose to act
- Follow your heart
- Persevere in the face of adversity
- Stand up for what is right
- Expand your horizons
- Face the circumstance with dignity or faith
In the end, there is another saying I often use; “if you want to go sailing, you must get off the dock and onto the boat”. Yes, boats do sink sometimes, however, courageous people go forth anyway.
Have a Great Week!
