Monday Message – Are you an Eccentric Entrepreneur?

Are you an Eccentric Entrepreneur?

I wonder how many of my readers have asked themselves this question?  What I do know is that many people enter the world of entrepreneurship totally unprepared.  We believe that we have an expertise in some discipline (i.e., engineering, sales, IT, and so on) and that people will be out there waiting for us to start our business and come and save their company time, money and other resources.  And then it happens… nobody rings our phone or responds to that expensive website that we created.

First things first… what is an entrepreneur?  An entrepreneur is a resilient individual with the personal power and persistence to stay the course, no matter what.  It takes a person who is willing to take the risk, be ok with failing, and saddling up and getting back on the horse.  To be an Eccentric Entrepreneur means being passionate and fearless, and believing in yourself, even during those times when things aren’t necessarily going your way.  We need to be, as Patrick Lencioni says, humble, hungry and smart.  Since our attitude has so much to do with our success, we need to believe that anything is possible and we need to have faith.  And most of all, we need to understand that no one can go it alone.  It’s about attracting the right people to your team, attracting customers or clients because you do what you say you are going to do, and to connect yourself to others who share your passion.

Have a Great Week,

Jerry
