Rich Murphy

Rich Murphy is the CFO and CAO of Tierra Dynamic Company (TDC). TDC is a privately owned integrated environmental services company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. TDC provides engineering and scientific consultation to public, private, and not-for-profit clients. Rich is also the lead Principle at Horizon Management Consulting, which is a financial and management consulting firm specializing in cost control, running IT as a business and operational efficiency. He has published several papers on IT Financial Management in the US and Europe.

Previously Rich was a Managing Director with Deutsche Bank for 10 years, where he held the position of CFO for Global Technology and Operations (GTO) and Support Divisions. These functions covered about 23,000 internal and external employees around the globe and had an annual operational budget of more than 6 billion €. The GTO team was responsible to develop, maintain and run over 4,000 software applications. The Operations organization was responsible for processing, settling and reconciling all of the banks business transactions. In addition, the GTO team was responsible to run and maintain the data center, network, desktop support and telecommunication functions for the bank. The Support Divisions covered all other cost areas in the bank including legal, compliance, audit and global management.

Rich joined Deutsche Bank in 1998 after a 16-year career at AT&T. He started his career at AT&T after a four-year auditing career with Price Waterhouse where he earned his CPA certificate. At AT&T he held a variety of financial and operational assignments including closing of results, financial reporting and analysis, revenue and inventory assurance, billing operations, network operations, external reporting and financial consolidation.

Rich was born in New York City and grew up in central New Jersey. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in Accounting at Villanova University in Pennsylvania in 1979.  He is a member of the AICPA and the New Jersey Society of CPA’s. Rich gives his time as the Vice Chairman of the Arizona Small Business Association Business Mentoring Program and as a subject matter financial expert for the APS Academy for the Advancement of Small, Minority and Women Owned Enterprises. Rich and his wife, Susan, reside in Arizona and have two grown children, Erin and Drew.
