Maturity in Mid-Market Organizations
As mid-market leaders continue to take on increased challenges, the opportunity to grow personally, may fall off the radar. Since so much success ties to the talent, skills and abilities of your leaders, this is a dangerous trend. It is more important than ever to take a very customized and ongoing approach to continual development of your leadership team, at all levels. Leadership maturity is not only desirable, but essential to long-term sustainable growth.
Data from Bersin by Deloitte supports my comments as the newest data shows “that capable leadership talent is very rare. Only 59% of mid-market leaders execute and achieve results through their people. Only 37% are seen as driving change and innovation and only 42% build talent for competitive advantage.
Whether leading a relative start-up or an established organization, mid-market leaders must engage, inspire and challenge their teams and drive results. According to Bersin mid-market organizations with higher leadership maturity tend to be:
- Seven times more likely to build talent for a competitive advantage
- Four times more likely to meet or exceed financial targets
- Four times more likely to improve processes to maximize efficiency
- Three times more likely to innovate
It is important that the need for solid changes in leadership development should be widely understood and prioritized.
